South City Church is an uncommon family, in the city, united by the gospel of Jesus. Our congregation was planted in 2005 with the desire to see God build his church—weaving together His people into His story of grace and redemption—and then to use that church to transform his city from a city divided by racism, suspicion, bigotry, and self-righteousness into a city of worshipers—transformed by the glories of Jesus Christ
In the summer of 2007, God did the unexpected, adding Olive Branch Presbyterian Church, a 125-year-old congregation in the city with its rich history, heritage, experience and vision for the city to us. A year later, in May of 2008, we were organized as a “particular church” in the Presbyterian Church in America.
All through this short, but very deep history we have been privileged to see God take our initial desires and dreams and make them a reality in St. Louis.
“Through the grace and power of the Gospel, South City Church is part of the uncommon family of God. We believe that all people are made in the image of a God who not only created us, but came to live among us. Every season is a new opportunity to confess our freedom to delight in him and each other. It is our deep desire to welcome you into our church for events celebrating the freedom we have found in Jesus. As a church that opens its doors to people of all cultural backgrounds, we are excited to offer all events as free and open to the public. We hope you will visit with us and we invite you to come as you are! We gather together – to learn, grow, worship, grieve, and rejoice together. Join us – and see what this Uncommon Family is all about.”
